This is how to loom an elephant rattle in the future there will be the actual how to loom and elephant stuffing normal but this tutorial we're going to do the head and the ring and how that works and first we're going to start off with a blue loom of 24 pegs which is the salt super small and you're going to do a drawstring cast on of 24 pegs and you're going to be working flat for this and you're going to weave in and out every other peg and you're gonna flip it around and pass over every other loop you just might and this create the drawstring cast on this keeps you from having to do an extra step do you want to nint 24 peg where you just toss over the bottom lip over the top you're going to do that for a total of nine rows and you're going to be working flat.
It's going to be back and forth and you want to continue on for a total of nine done with that we're going to start working on our ear section.
First you're going to knit three you're going to work the next six pegs for the ear and you're going to work it flattened.
You're going to work back and forth for the next six eggs and you're going to do that for a total of sixteen rose total if for instance that's Row one then go back the direction you can 46 which makes row to you continue this process back and forth for a total of sixteen rose to knit twelve pegs going to work ear to for the next six pegs for 16 rows back and forth.
For instance. This is Row one go back. This is Row 2 three.
Just continue on for a total of sixteen rose you and now go ahead and finish the row often it non pegs you and if you pull the drawstring you can start to see how that will go in. All right, now you want to go back and you want to do get 24 pegs for six rows flat want to decrease by three lifting up the five loop now place two loops on the last three pegs where you've now just decreased by three on one end you want to toss the both loops over the top after you do that you want to go in and decrease by three on the other side and that means pull up five pegs and put them onto your lemming hook and then place two loops on the last three pegs two loops on each peg the last three pegs you've now decreased by three the mac side which will be a total decrease of six packs right we're just now starting to work the trunk area now you finish the row by just straight knitting humbly across and now you want to need 18 pics for two rows you. Okay, you want to do the decreasing process again you want to decrease by to lifting three pegs and then taking and placing two loops on the last two pegs and you want to repeat this on the other side which should be a total decrease of four pegs create the trunk of the elephant you need to do the slow decrease from the base to the tip and that's where we're at now you want to go ahead and knit the row tossing both lips over on the decreased pegs now you want to knit 14 pegs for two rows you want to decrease by 2 by lifting three loops and then placing two loops on each peg on the last two pigs and you want to repeat this on the other side.
Again you would be decreasing the this row by four 10 pigs for two rows East by 2 by lifting three loops repeating this process again and then placing two loops on the last two pegs also repeat again on the other side knit the row to Nick six tags for one row and then you want to decrease by one on each end and then you want to knit the rib now you want to me you want to knit for pigs for six rows and when you pull it you should start to say the form of the ear and the trunk now you want to snip a tail off and drawstring cast office the trunk area string together and then you're going to want to sell up the trunk then you want to take the needle off and close back of the head off.
Go ahead and close that drawstring cast off the drawstring cast on go ahead and close it back the head snap-down you'll notice I didn't snip the trunk area because we're going to take that extended tail and we'll finish showing up the trunk area after we get done stuffing the head and everything but now we want to go ahead and we want to sew up our ears I like to take advantage of any extra yarn i have from the drawstring cast on and.
Up ears the more you can save your yarn the better go ahead and sew up the other ear next we want to let's make our rattle part and you'll need a small easter egg two bells and a few things close it up start stuffing your head let's go ahead and stuff the trunk area and stuff around but make sure you leave a hole to be able to put your egg now you want to leave your egg in the middle and then stuff some more around the egg and after you get done stuffing around the egg and you'll need to take your needle and.
The hit up and tie off the end they're not tough periods in now we want to erap cast on twenty four pegs we're going to work flat. This is going to be the ring for our rattle and then you're going to knit 15 rows back and forth total and continue on now after you do that you're going to take the original Arab cast on and you're going to place them on to the loops and if you've made your basic brimmed hat. This is the same concept.
We're going to place those all on to the loops and because we're not working circular we're working flat when you get to the other end you may be short by two and I'll show you how to handle that. Okay, and then what I do with those last two I move the very end one over to the other one and next you want to go in and toss over the bottom loop all the way around you want to cast off using your crochet hook.
Take the first one and pull through take the second one on pull through wrap pull through take the next one off hook pull through wrap pull through do this all the way around if you need assistance with how to cast off using the crochet hook please go to my video for the techniques after you get done casting off go ahead and stretch your neck out and then you're going to want to start stuffing the tube now I doubled my yarn up on both of these.
That it's nice and thick and the stuffing isn't going to come through nothing try to make sure it's fairly even all the way through you don't have any gaps which can be a challenge yes. This is how you make the tube for the rattle it's really easy now you want to fill up the tube I usually like to get the ends tied together just to kind of keep me found an easier time sawing it together.
I usually take the ends and show them together like that. Okay, now i want to.
The end together.
Cut your tail and thread your needle I usually tidy enough with the others attached and what I'm going to do if stuff those hands in already now you want to sew up the rest of the tube.
You get a doughnut now you want to sew on your head naturally the ears need to line up with the flow of the doughnut go ahead and.
On your head and what I do is I kind of weave in and out the yarn all the way around title crochet hook in the end into the tube now we want to glue on our eyes and I usually line them up with the upper part of the ear and I've taken and made my eyes out of Pony be melted down go ahead and glue on your eyes base of the trunk line up with the upper years. Okay, well you're done and that's your elephant rattle you.
