How to Roast Pumpkin Seeds - Salt and Butter Method

Alright what's up YouTube today I'm gonna be making some pumpkin seeds and just let me kind of show you how to do that I couldn't find a tutorial out there myself so here are the seeds and some water I'm getting ready to boil them in a salt water solution for about 20 minutes and we'll get on with the rest of the recipe okay guys I've got the pumpkin seeds boiling now I put about a tablespoon of salt in there and the idea is just to get the salt to infuse with the pumpkin seeds this is not a necessary step you can absolutely roast them without doing this like I said I just like to get the salt in there and I like my pumpkin seeds a little bit saltier so if you like them that way as well go ahead and do this step alright the poket seeds have been on there just almost 20 minutes now so I'm gonna go ahead and take them off of the stove and use my strainer here and go ahead and strain the pumpkin seeds from the water and the excess pumpkin material alright guys so I've strained the pumpkin seeds and now I'm melting a stick of butter in the pan that I actually boiled them in and I'm gonna just I'm gonna put these back in there and let them simmer in this butter a little bit I'm also gonna add another probably teaspoon of salt just to give it a little salt on the outside and then I'm gonna go ahead and bake them so I'm going to preheat the oven right now for 300 degrees and like I said I'm gonna let these pumpkin seeds simmer a little bit in this butter and that should give us what we need to go ahead and put them in the oven kind of like I said before this step is not necessary you don't have to put the butter on there in fact you can just put these on a greased cookie sheet or pizza pan and put some olive oil on the top of them drizzle that over them and that'll work just as well don't know that you'll get the taste that you're looking for afterwards but it will work just depends on how much time you have and how much want to put into it but as you can see the consistency of this is really pretty nice and there should be an even amount of butter on each pumpkin seed so that'll help us out too in the baking process I have distributed these seeds on here just as easy as even as I can to make sure that they all get the right heat I may have may have been beneficial to use a bigger pan but this is what I have so this is what I use I'm gonna go ahead and put them in the oven at 300 degrees for approximately 45 minutes but I'm gonna keep a good eye on them too basically you just want a good golden-brown pumpkin seed at the end so right here we are at about 15 minutes you can see the butter sizzling a little bit there not close to being done yet but I just wanted to show you what 15 minutes look like I'm gonna keep it going and I will show you again in about 30 ok I just hit 30 minutes me and see on the edge there we're starting to get a little bit more golden brown in the middle you've still got a ways to go what I'm gonna do is pull them out stir them up redistribute them evenly over the pan and put them back in for about another I'd say 10 or 15 minutes okay here they are after the last 10 minutes that we talked about so they've been in for a total of 40 minutes I think they're looking pretty good so I'm gonna go ahead and pull them out of the oven okay here they are on the top of the stove they are done I just tried one it tastes amazing you know this has been a successful batch of pumpkin seeds now all you have to do is simply bag them up give them out or save them all for yourself thanks for watching the video if you like to go ahead and subscribe to my channel there's all kinds of different stuff on here and enjoy your pumpkin seeds
