The BEST Roasted Pumpkin Seeds! Easy + Delicious!

Roasted pumpkin seeds are the perfect fall snack so today I'm going to show you how to make them so last week I showed you how to make pumpkin puree and if you miss that video i will link it for you so you can go and check it out but in that video i mentioned that you want to make sure to save your pumpkin seeds because you can roast them and eat them later so today i'm going to show you exactly how to do that and the great thing about this recipe is that you can use it with the seeds that come from your pie pumpkins but you can also use it for the seeds that come out of your jack-o'-lantern pumpkins or even other types of winter squash like acorn squash and butternut squash the bottom line is there's no reason to get rid of those seeds you can totally use them cook them and have them for a nice snack so to make this recipe you want to start with clean and dry seeds so these are the seeds that I got out of my pie pumpkin and I just rinse them off in a colander to get rid of any of the little extra bits of pumpkin that was still hanging around and then I put them on a baking sheet so that they could air dry when it's time to roast up your seeds you want to pre-heat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit while our oven is preheating it's time to prep our seeds so I'm adding a pinch of salt and a drizzle of oil and this is cash and reduce extra virgin olive oil it's a really good quality olive oil it's the olive oil that I use in my house all the time and if you're interested in learning more about it or checking it out i'll leave a link for it below the video now you can totally stop with this seasoning here or you can keep going so for mine I'm also going to add a sprinkle of garlic powder and some paprika because I like that flavor combo but you can really try a lot of different things here if you wanted to make like an Indian flavor version you could use Indian spices or just use some garam masala if you wanted to do a sweeter version you could skip the salt and put in you know like cinnamon and nutmeg and other pumpkin pie type spices you can really play around with this and use any kind of combo that you like and let me know in the comments when it comes to pumpkin seeds are you a classic salt kind of person or do you like to mix it up with different kinds of spices once you got any spices or flavorings that you want to use that you can just get in there with your hands or a spatula if you like to keep things a little more clean and just mix everything together until the seeds are evenly coated now you can pour your seats out onto a baking tray you just want to spread stuff out and make sure that the seeds are in a nice even layer here you don't want anything too close together or overlapping because that's going to prevent our seeds from getting nice and crispy now it's time to get those seeds in the oven you're going to roast your seats for about 20 minutes and I say about 20 minutes because it can vary depending on the size of the seeds you're using especially if you're using different types of squash so if the seeds are very small it might be less than 20 minutes if the seeds are very large then it might be a little more of a 20 minutes is about the average just keep an eye on them make sure that nothing is burning and if they look like they're not done yet then you can go ahead and leave them in a little longer once your seats are all toasted and crispy then you can pull them out of the oven and allow them to cool and there you have it delicious roasted pumpkin seeds that are a perfect fall snack and they're made out of something that you might have just thrown away or put in your compost and if you do end up making these definitely let me know you can post a picture on twitter or instagram and tag me in it or you can send it to me on snapchat i hope you like this video and if you are new here and you want more healthy eating tips and nutrition info and healthy recipes make sure that you subscribe because eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle it really doesn't have to be complicated and i want to show you how to do it and if you're loving the free info here but you're finding that you need something more personalized don't forget that i do offer one-on-one nutrition coaching and counseling so if you're interested in that just let me know and we can get that set up for you thanks for watching I hope you're having a great day and I'll talk to you next time
